Problems In Win Xp Pro

I have a problem with windows where my windows installer
has stopped woorking, windows reports that the file is
corrupt or the wrong version, also a file DCIMAN32.dll is
corrupt or missing, i have ran virus scans and other
diagnosis programs and nothing shows any errors. i really
dont want to have to re-install XP.

Any help greatly appreciated

If PC will boot to windows
Start > Run > sfc /scannow
this will check and replace any corrupted or missing system files
