Hi. I'm a newbie to Windows XP (Home Ed) and have just got a new computer
i'm (trying) to set up. Having much frustration, please help... or may have
to shoot myself ;-)
On my old computer i was using Windows 98, and i have always used Outlook
Express for my emails. I have many email messages that i'd like to transfer
to my new computer. On the new machine i plan to use Outlook.
Problem is, try as i might, i can't understand how to get messages from my
[O/E in Win 98] to my [Outlook program in Win XP].
There appears no way to export messages to a (file) directly from O/E, but
you (can) seem to 'send them' to Outlook within the same machine. Therefore
i set up Outlook in the Win98 machine and sent the messages to it
(successfully).
I then tried to 'export' the files from Outlook to transportable media - so
these could be suitably (imported) in to Outlook on the Win XP machine. But
i can't get it to work. I did manage to get some test files across but the
date had disappeared... so not much good like this.
Is there an answer??? If not, i'll just have to see which are the (really)
important files to keep and 'forward them' via email to the new computer.
This would seem completely 'daft'. There must surely be a way to do this?
