Problems getting standalone DHCP server to update DNS

Hi,

We have a standalone server running DHCP. This is not updating our DNS
server correctly. The DNS server is a 2003 Server that's part of a 2003
Native Mode domain.

The first time a machine logs on it does correctly register it, but
thereafter if a machine's IP changes it does not update the A Record.

I have set the workstations to update the PTR themselves, and this works
correctly. I've set the DHCP scope to "Automatically update the DHCP client
information > Always update DNS".

Is the problem caused because the DHCP server isn't part of the DNS domain?
If so, is there a way to allow this other than joining the DHCP server to
the domain?

Thanks,

Curtis.

Assign a dedicated user account to DHCP that the server can use to update
the zone with, I'm not sure this will work unless the DHCP server is on a
member server.
