All,

One of my users came to me with an odd problem. When he is
editing a powerpoint slide, he uses the arrow keys to move
through the text. But, instead of the cursor moving to the
desired location, it leaves behind special characters like
the '&' and ')' and squares.

I have tried looking at the Knowledge Base, but to be
honest, I have no idea how to phrase the search to get
back anything that is even remotely close to what the
problem actually is.

Any help that anyone can provide will be greatly
appreciated.

Side note, I am not sure, but the presentations may be
from a template that was created several years ago in an
older version of Powerpoint, but I cannot verify that at
this time.

Thank you for your time.

Is that a polite way of saying you couldn't find anything on the microsoft site?

You're not alone!

Some time ago, a visitor here wrote:

"It requires upgrading to Windows XP SP1
and then applying the 821432 hotfix patch (SP1 is pre-
requisite before applying the hotfix). The hotfix
updates the WIN32K.SYS driver."

He went on to say that he thought the patch might be included in a later XP
service pack.

If you're using XP, you might want to check Windows Update.
