I just got a strange message when I opened a Microsoft Works
database on my Windows 2000 system:

Warning: over 500 fonts in system! This program may not
display correctly! Please delete some fonts!

I do have a lot of fonts, but I never dreamed that having
too many fonts could cause problems.

Is this a MS-Works-only thing, or can having over 500 fonts
installed cause other problems in Windows 2000 as well?

My guess is that it is a MS Works problem (is it an old version of Works?).
I have over 3000 fonts installed on my Windows 2000 workstation and have had
for over six years now. Never have had a problem related to fonts, nor a
performance issue, in all that time.

Pre NT versions of windows (95, 98, 98se & me) had problems with large
number of fonts. AFAIK, NT versions of windows don't have a problem.
