problems deleting user accounts

I am trying to delete a user account and get to the point where it asks me whether I want to keep/delete files and once I click one of the choices, my computer just freezes and nothing happens. I am unable to delete this account. Any suggestions????
 
How much time do you give it? Might just simply be that there is a lot to
delete and/or move. Give it 5 minutes at least, and preferably try when you
should/want to be doing something else. Like eating breakfast or watching
TV.
