There are some pages that will refuse to be deleted in my internet explorer, now I've seen another post on this but it's solution did not work. THe actual shortcut files are being removed and deleted, yet somehow the history retains knowledge of having been to the site. I have no idea how it's happening, it's quite confusing and annoying.

Anyone have any ideas how to fix it?

Hi Manny44 :-)

not work. THe actual shortcut files are being removed and deleted,

Try the following and see if it helps.

How to clear Address Bar History

See here

See this section: Instructions for Internet Explorer users
http://www.help2go.com/article58.html

Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm
Deletes the History folder (and the index.dat file). When you reboot, a new
folder is created

Delete History folder manually:

In order to prevent the Autocomplete from working, close all open browser
windows or it will not take effect. Go to Tools | Internet Options | Click
the Content tab. Click the button that says Autocomplete. Uncheck Web
Addresses and all other items you don't want used with autocomplete.
CAUTION: Be careful clearing passwords, be sure you have them backedup

Hope this helps.

Jan :)
