Problems closing browser windows

Within about the past 2-3 weeks(ish) I have noticed that
if I have more than one browser window open and I want to
close some of the windows, if I right-click to close from
the task bar I get the error beep and have to click a
second time to get the window to close. I'm using IE6
running under WinXP. Anyone else encountering this
problem? It's very frustrating when you're trying to get
rid of pop-ups - but the problem isn't limited to closing
pop-ups. I also have a 'back-up' browser - Mozilla - and
don't have this problem with it. In addition, my other PC
that also has IE6 running under WinXP is not encountering
this problem either.

Any suggestions?

if you are getting an error beep you should be getting an
error message.....please post it

.....there is no error message - if there was, I might
have a bit more hope of figuring out what the problem
is ;-)

I went into Sounds on the Control panel, the sound is
just called 'Default Beep'. I called it an error
beep 'cause that's what it usually seems to signify.
