I recently had a problem with my computer not recognizing my E: Drive (cd
rom) and received a fix from the instant support people at HP. However, now
I'm trying to burn a cd and I get a message saying my computer does not have
the equipment to burn cds when I know it does. I believe the fix they gave me
is not compatable with this, but when I try to get onto instant support or a
Windows approved chatroom, I cannot send messages. Does anyone have any
advice for any of these problems? Help, I'm stuck!

So am I. What fix did they give you ? Re-post.

Cheers,

I downloaded a fix from some website the support analyst gave me. It's called
xp_cd_dvd_fix.vbs

I'm also going to post the error messages I get when I try to burn:
From Windows Media Player "No CD or DVD Player has been detected"
From Record Now "Your recording device does not support writing to CD Media.
This option is not available with your current recorder."

This seems to be a common problem. The .vbs should have worked. However, see

Okay... I tried the address you gave me, but it's the same download I already
have, and doesn't fix the problem. I read the messages that went along with
them too, but that seems to help everyone else.

Does anyone else have any ideas? I'm getting desperate.
