Hi all

I'm having trouble with the archiving in Outlook 2002.

I've set my Sent Items to archive anything older than 3 months. However
after the archive process is completed I go into my Sent Items folder (the
current, not the archived) and I can see a total of 622 messages that are
older than 3 months, some going well back to May 2003.
There is not pattern that I can determine, short of there is anywhere from
1-12 messages for any given day, other messages sent on these same days have
been successfully archived.

If I check the Archive Sent Items folder these messages are not present, so
they appear to have been missed or skipped for whatever reason.
This is also not a network environment.

Any ideas or suggestions....

Thanks
Chris

Can you start the archiving process manually?
Also check both your archive as your original pst-files on errors with
scanpst.exe and clear your Deleted Items folder.

the SWEN virus, all mail sent to my personal account will be deleted

Hi again

Thanks for your help.

Yes I can start the archiving process manually and except for these 622
messages it appears to work fine.

I cleared the Deleted Items folder, closed Outlook and ran scanpst.exe on
all my PST files. There was some errors detected, however the Inbox Repair
Tool indicated these were minor, I did perform the repair though.

I ran autoarchive again afterwards and these messages are still present in
my regular Sent Items and not being archived.

Any other ideas or suggestions ?

Thanks again for your help

Chris

Hi Chris
Auto archive uses the modify date of a message, not the send or receive date.
So the messages that are not archived have been changed later.
(With View - current view - customize current view - add field choose "modify date" you can make the modify date visible)

OK cool, that shows a date within the time specified, so there's the reason.

Now I just need to figure out how I modified these emails ;) The compact
feature I imagine would do this I suppose, not that I recall running it.

Cheers heaps
Chris
