Problems after upgrading to Server 2000

The network support person for our office recently upgraded
our NT 4.0 Server to 2000 Server. After this was done, many
things were out of whack for weeks, but two problems that
persist are on my XP Pro workstation:

1) Loading my "personal settings" at login used to take
a few seconds, now it takes over two minutes to do this,
so loging on now takes about 2.5 minutes.

2) After logging on, all of my shares to the server and
to other workstation drives/folders are accessible, but
after a while (maybe 30 - 60 minutes, haven't timed it),
I cannot access any of the shares, nor do I have
access to any network resources. Attempting to access
any of these results in a 10-20 second delay followed
by a dialog box asking for a username and password. If
I enter mine, the dialog adds a statement saying that
it has already tried to use that username and password.
The only way to restore access to network resources
is to logoff then log back in (another 2.5 minute wait).

We have a single domain controller (the server in question)
and all of the workstations are on the LAN - no RAS access.

The support person is not a Windows networking expert - he
is more geared toward hardware - cables, switches, etc. He's
not sure how to fix this. Do we need to find a Windows
networking consultant, or are there a few things I can look
for and change? I have the KB article 138365 about the
autodisconnect setting that I will check into.

Any other guidance much appreciated.

How many nics in the server? DNS on the servernic(s) should *only* point to
the server-IP. Check the ipconfig/all on the clients. Everything should
point to the server-IP.

I'll check the server out. I believe it only has one NIC.
I'll also check the ipconfig info on the clients.

thanks,
