I use 2000 pro at school, and my professor recommended that
I upgrade my home computer, because Oracle Enterprise
Manager will work better with it. Now, I've opened
Pandora's box. And, of course, after it's too late I find
out that certain HP models have compatibility problems, and
they don't support 2000. I can't use my cd-r/w anymore.
I'm pretty sure a driver or something got lost in the
translation somewhere, but I can't get what I need from HP
or the manufacturer, and not from Microsoft either. Any
technical support I come across wants your retirement fund
to talk to you for 2 minutes. I depended on my cd-r/w
heavily for backup purposes on an almost daily basis. I'd
need hundreds of floppies each week to do half of what I
did with it. I'm getting concerned, especially if I have
to go back to 98, I'll lose a lot of stuff. Any help or
suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Erin,
Windows 2000 Proff comes with huge driver database, where all your
systems basic harware gets installed automatically. for the CDr/w device
you might have to load in a 3rd party drivers and also the r/w software.
For this you might have to collect Model & make information on your CD r/w
device. where in you can download the drivers from www.driverguide.com, and
install the drivers. this might help you to reduce the amount of time spent
to take backup in floppies.
