I have gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro2 motherboard. After some
other re-booting problems earlier I have just updated the
BIOS and nvidia chipset drivers. After I re-booted to
complete the installation my screen resolution and
quality settings are at the lowest (4 bit) and I cannot
change it back to the highest setting as it was
previously.

Cheers.

You probably ddin't install and reinstall the video drivers properly. Be
sure they are properly removed, restart the system, and then re-install
them.

What kind of video card is it and what nvdia drivers did you use?

Which motherboard bios version did you upgrade to ?

Firstly I had downloaded the drivers from windows update
then went to www.gigabyte.com.tw, went to the drop down
menu called support, clicked on motherboards then drivers
and punched in my motherboard details and under "chipset
driver" downled the nvidia series system driver for winXP
version 2.41. After this I used the the BIOS updating
program that came on the CD with the mother board to
update my BIOS from "F4" to "F5" (this program is called
@BIOS) I have since restored my computer to a restore
point prior but I think the BIOS update has remained in
action.
