problems after installing recommended updates

Hi all,

I ran windows update and chose also the recommended updates (OS :
WinXP Pro)

I downloaded, installed, restarted, and had following symptoms :

- the taskbar did not show my open windows
- problems with launching programs (e.g. system restore won't run)

started also in save mode, but no luck there.

Do/Can I individually uninstall the updates ?

Please try Last Known Good Configuration:

Start/Restart your computer and start pushing F8 key twice per second.
Select Last Known Good Configuration on Windows Advanced Options screen, and push Enter.

I wouldn't recommend installing "recommended updates" - Critical Updates and Service Packs ONLY. See here for more information:
