Help! Anyone! I had to do a system recovery for my Compaq Presario and used
the 7 disc set that I purchased from MS/Compaq. However, now my HP All in
One Printer/Scanner/Copier won't scan. Problem is there's now no "Scan"
option from the program side. If I go into the HP Image Director, I get a
"communication problem" and if I open My Pictures File (used to be a link in
the index saying to get image from scanner) the link is not there! I tried
to look for the set-up scanner from the control panel, but I keep getting
that the software is already installed. It's like a big circle that goes
nowhere.

I also need to know if I need to re-install the SP2 on my PC. After the
recovery, I did the check for updates and put it back on automatic updates.
I tried to download SP2, but it just starting checking my PC for the need for
the latest updates and comes back saying that I'm set to receive automatic
updates. How will I know if I have the SP2 installed?

Lastly, since the recovery, when I got on the internet, the web pages were
so large that I had to scroll to the right. I reset my monitor resolution to
1025 x 768, but now the text is too small and the browser icons are much
smaller than they were before. There is no option for "medium" sized icons,
only large or small.

Having a website that I constantly update, this has become a big pain in the
yhou know what - just trying to get back to normal. PLEASE, if anyone can
help, I sure would appreciate it.

7 Disc recovery means it probably restored from an IMAGE - not an actual
install.

Yes you should install SP2 - but only after updating all your hgardware
drivers - especially that printer/scanner - from the hardware manufacturer's
web pages. And make sure your firewall is enabled at all times while on the
internet.

Hi,

Click start/run, type services.msc and click ok. Scroll down and locate the
Windows Image Acquisition service and double click it. See that the startup
type is set to automatic. You may also want to go to the Recovery tab and
check that the first action is set to restart the service on failure.
