a friends call and is having a problem with his computer.
when tring to install nero 7 (trail version), he gets the
message.
" The windows Installer service could not be accessed.
This can occur if you are in safe mode ,or if windows
installer is not correctly installed contact your
support personnel for assistance."

thinking that the problem maybe that he does not have the
lastest version of microsoft installer. i try to do the
microsoft update. (he does not like to do any updates.)
when the update is run. i get a error message dowload failed
for every item that is available for updating.

does anyone know what the problem is and how to repair it.

i passed it to the friend. he told me that since the system still works, he
is not going to do anyhing about it.
does not care if he can not do any critical system up.
he is not worth helping.

I guess the old adage "You can lead a horse to water....." is applicable in
