Hi,

Recently bought a new pc with winxp home.
Connected my older laserjet 5L to it and it installed itself nicely.
But now i have all kinds of problems with documents not printing.
If i have a word doc open (only 3 to 8 pages with a few jpg pictures in a
small file format) and i start printing, it often stops at a page and the
top light from the printer starts flashing. Whatever i do, i cannot get it
to resume printing. Sometimes it says that it has not enough memory to print
the document.
After emptying the printer task lists (WHAT TAKES AGES......!!!!???? btw),
and even restarting the pc, after giving a new printcommand for the same
doc, it stops at the same page again....

What is it that i do wrong?

That is the printer talking. You need to install more memory in the
printer.

The printer still does not have enough memory.

Can you explain why the *same* document and the *same* printer don't
exhibit this problem under an earlier Windoze version?

Hi,

I hope i found the solution.
There seems to be a problem with newer computers and winxp that they
'deliver' data through parallel port to fast for and 'oldy' like my
laserjet. So it was suggested to me to change in Bios the setting for the
parallel port from 'EPP+ECP' to 'EPP' only. So i did. For now it works.....
Hope it keeps working ;-)

And the suggestion to install more memory is for sure NOT the problem here.
If it did work under 98 , it 'should' also work under xp.
