problem with windows media player

Help,
As of late I cannot get my windows media player to come up. It shows the
hourglass for a second then the blank screen..I went into remove/add
programs and found this.."windows media player hotfix (see wm828026 for more
information)"
Does anyone know what is happening??

Will need more information. What types of files are you trying to play?
Have they played previously on this machine? What error messages, if any,
are you getting? Have you updated the video and sound card drivers for the
machine recently?
