Whenever I go into windows mail a window pops up asking about my dial-up
connection. It says select the service you want to connect to. There's
nothing in the drop down box. When I go to settings... it says you are
already connected to the internet - which I am.
I'm on a wireless connection at home that works no problem but the mail
program doesn't seem to detect any internet connection. Please can anyone
help?!
Thanks
Kate

Go to Tools, Accounts, select your mail account, Properties, Connection.
What does it show for connection?
You must either leave that unselected (in which case WM will use whatever
connection IE uses), or else select the Local Area Network.

Also, under Tools, Options, Connection, the first box should be checked,
and the second box unchecked.
If all that checks out, but you still have the problem, the account may be corrupted.
Delete the account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate the account.

When I go tools - accounts and click on connection it doesn't respond and
that tab wont open. Do you know why? Thanks

hi, how can I import my .pst archives into windows mail, cause in this
computer i dont have outlook, just the .pst archives that i generate from my
other computer

Windows Mail cannot import from a .pst file unless Outlook is installed on
the Vista computer.
1. Install Outlook on your new computer
Copy the .pst file to the new computer
Open the .pst file with Outlook.
In Windows Mail, File - Import - Messages - Microsoft Outlook
or- keep using Outlook, as it's probably better than WM

-OR-
2. Take the .pst file to a computer running Outlook and Outlook Express.
Import the .pst files into Outlook Express
export the messages to .dbx
take the .dbx files to the new computer
Import the .dbx files.

Yes, it means that account is corrupt. Delete that mail account,
restart Windows Mail, then recreate the account.

My email has worked fine for the last year but as of today it will not
connect and when it does it's only for a few seconds. Can't get it to send
emails also.

Do you get an error message? If so, right-click on your error message,
copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.
