Problem with Windows 2000

I am running Windows 2000 just recently I can turn on my
system and everything seems okay but, when my desktop
comes up it is only showing my wallpaper. If I do
ctrl+alt+del task manager I can open my programs. I don't
understand what has happened. Why won't my programs come
up as usual.
