Hi,

I recently upgraded a PC (Mitac 5114VU, ESS 1989 Audio) to Windows
2000, and the audio driver is having problems.

If I _totally_ uninstall the driver, and reboot, after I install the
driver, the audio works OK. If I then re-boot, I get a blue-screen
from es198x.sys, the first time it tries to play a sound (something
about IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL), which happens right at boot up. If I
again boot up in safe-mode, uninstall, re-boot, and install, it works
OK (only to act up if I re-boot again).

How do I get this machine to act properly? I have the BIOS set for a
PnP OS, and have the audio stuff enabled.

Your help is appreciated (duanek at chorus d o t com)

Hello,

Yes, I have.

Are there any special things I should do to make _sure_ these drivers
get installed (i.e. delete inf and sys files, use the setup.exe rather
than let Win2k do it, etc?)

Thanks,
Duane
