hi,
I have a DC that hold also other roles. This server is very important.
Maybe becuase of an installtion of a third party AD managment program I have
those issues:
1. I can not open the active directory users and computers. I open it , and
press on my domain to see all the containers, but it close it automaticlly.
So I can NOT use the active directory from this server.
2. When I go to control panel, and press on add/remove program nothing
happened. I CAN NOT remove programs from this server.
I already boot the server, but it did not helped. I also strated the server
in safe mode to see if it will helkp me enter the add/remove programs, but
it did NOT helped me.
Any advices how tosolve this isuee ???

Try restarting the server in Directory Services Restore mode.

Doug,
Do you think that by restarting the server in AD restore mode I will be able
to get into the add remove programs ???
or do you think I must do some troubshouting tries in AD restore mode ?
What to do in Ad restore mode ?

thanks.

My guess (and yours) is that the third party AD management software and/or
resulting AD conflicts/errors are directly or indirectly causing Add/Remove
programs to fail. Perhaps the machine is simply using all available
resources in repeated failed attempts to start Directory Services or
otherwise deal with AD errors such that no other programs can run.

When you start in DS Restore mode, you eliminate AD - it will not be
running - so MAYBE the avoiding of AD related conflicts/errors will allow
you to run Add/Remove programs.

Install W2k3 AdminPak on a client machine (XP Pro) and try to run ADUC
from there.

See if there is an Uninstall option that comes with the 3rd party AD
Management program.
