All,
I have a machine running Windows Vista Enterprise. The machine has four
USB ports in the back and two in the front. They are all supposed to be USB
2.0. In the device manager under universal serial bus controllers I have:
ATI I/O Communications Processor USB 1.1 OHCI controller
ATI I/O Communications Processor USB 1.1 OHCI controller
ATI I/O Communications Processor USB 2.0 OHCI controller
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
The general properties of the first two hubs correspond to the 1.1
controllers and the third hub is assigned to the 2.0 controller.
PROBLEM: When I connect my dell axim and try to transfer large files, they
take forever - 60 minutes for one 90MB file on this PC. The same file only
takes about 5 minutes on another windows XP machine when I connect as guest.
When I look at the device manager, my dell axim shows up inthe power tab on
one of the 1.1 USB root hubs and appears to be running at 1.1 speed. No
matter what port I plug into - it lists on a 1.1 hub.
The first hub states that it has four ports available (four in back?) and
the second hub lists two ports available (front 2?). The third hub - the 2.0
one, shows 8 ports available.
How can I get my device to work at 2.0 speeds? All the drivers are up to
date in the device manager and there are no errors in the event log. There
is also no error when I plug the device in and no message talking about port
speed.
I am using the windows mobile device center to browse the contents of the
pocket pc (2003 second edition) and doing a copy and paste to my SD card.
Help a confused tech?
Thanks,
Ken
