Hi all - I am currently trying to upgrade a win2k domain with XP GPO
settings and have followed http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307900 to
the letter but still cannot see the updated settings (I'm specifically
looking for Windows Firewall).

Anyone had this problem before? I'm using an XP SP2 machine, logging on
as domain admin, loading mmc, adding GPO editor, browsing to the GPO to
be updated, expanding computer config, closing and then re-opening mmc
and going through the same process except the second time round going
to comp config/admin templates/network and can still only see the 2 old
options.

Tried this from 2 seperate win XP SP2 machines - no joy

Checked my inf directory and I have the templates AFAIK, though I tried
downlaoding the XP SP2 ADM files MSI and overwriting my old ADM's with
these which gave me no joy.

any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Hi,

Have you tried this;

1. Open the GPO you want to "upgrade" in MMC
2. Right-Click on Administrative Templates and choose "Add/Remove"
3. Remove old templates, and add new ones
4. Close and re-open the policy

What do you see now?

Make sure you use a test GPO for this, not a real one. Create a test one
if in doubt.
