Hi. I'm using Word 2000 version 9.0.2720. I have a problem with Word
'second-guessing' what text I want to select when I select text using the
mouse (ie: text I select for copying and later pasting). For example, if I
select from the middle of a word to the end of it and onto a subsequent word
(ie: I select the letters 'ample argument' from the larger sentence fragment
'example argument'), Word will automatically select the full fragment (ie:
it will select 'example argument'). It often takes a lot of fiddling to
properly select the exact text I want. How can I get Word to assume I know
what text I want to select and not second guess my selection?

Thanks, Mike N. Christoff

In Word, click on Tools | Options | Edit | uncheck the "When selecting,
automatically select entire word" box.

I actucally just solved this problem but thought I'd post it for others who
may be having the same problem. Go to:

Tools -> Options, then select the Edit tab and then unselect the checkbox
beside 'When selecting, automatically select entire word'.
