scroll menu. The AutoComplete is working beocuse when I start write a
site, it give me te options. Anyone knows what is happening?

Before u ask me details:
On the AutoComplete is all marked.
On avanced, security, " Empty the paste Temporary Internet Files when
the navigator is closed" is not marked.
In regedit
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoComplete"
is all yes.

thanks.

Hi :-)

You do not mention the version of Windows you are using, but, you might try
the following and see if it helps:

If I understand your problem, your history is not showing up in the drop
down list of the address bar:

Why some URLs may not show up in the list

Courtesy of Robert Aldwinckle - MVP

Elements only get added to TypedURLs when something is entered
in the Address bar *and* there is a successful open of what's typed.
We don't know yet if the user is actually entering anything in the
Address bar or if when it is entered a successful open is done.
If neither of those conditions are true then we would have an
explanation for the symptom (blank TypedURLs list).

It is not what the user seems to assume, a History of browsing.
That's the History Explorer bar (Ctrl-H). So if all that is done
is click on links or use the Open dialog (Ctrl-O) nothing would
be shown in the TypedURLs list (F4).

also..

One possibility is that the "Days to keep pages in history" option is set to
a low number. Go to IE>Tools>Internet Options>General tab and check that the
number of days of History to be saved is not set to zero. If so, enter a
number of days you want to keep your History. However, be aware that after
that many days the History out the old files.

How to use the AutoComplete feature in Internet Explorer 5 and 6:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=217148

It could be that the History folder has become damaged or corrupted, try
deleting the folder, then reboot and a new one will be created.
or......
To delete the History folder and index.dat (XP)
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm
Log on as Administrator and delete the desired <username> folder and reboot.
(or log on as another user that has Administrator privileges)
Example: "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\HISTORY"

If the above is not your problem, please post back with more details.

Hope this helps.

Hey Jan,
My windows is XP Professional.
Now, about my History, I'm entering in sites since friday, or 5 days.
The history I think that it have not any problems, becouse if I open it
(CTRL+H) all pages that I entered are on the list. And the number of
days for history, that is on Internet Options, is 20 days.

Any other idea!? :(
thanks

Hi :-)

Thank you for the update information.

The only way that you will see the addresses to the websites you have gone
to is to type them into the address bar, or cut and past them there, then
open the site. Just clicking on a link will not put the web address in your
address bar dropdown list, which I have already given you the information
for in my previous reply.

Or....click the link to open it, then copy the URL in the Address Bar and
close the site. Then paste the URL into the Address Bar and click GO. That
will open the site and add the URL to the History and it will then show in
the dropdown list.

If you want the see all the pages you went to in the History pane or
sidepanel, including with search engines, click on the History icon in the
toolbar. The links to all the websites you have been to will be listed
there.

If you mean Favorites, Expand Favorites Menu

IE>Tools>Internet Options>Advanced
The option is "Enable Personalized Favorites Menu"
UNcheck it. Or.....check it to show your personal list

Hope this helps.

I have the same problem. The operational system is xp with SP2.
This problem started last week and stay yet. I don't change nothing in my
computer, all options are right in the configuration.
Yesterday i try to solve the problem with CCLeaner but, no sucess. I tried
to find something wrong with spybot, trendmicro, microsoft analizer and
nothing.

Hey man, thanks for answer too.
But I'm talking all the time about the links that I write on the
Address bar.. I think that this error is related with the
reinstallation of my windows xp..
thanks

Hi :-)

Ok...gotcha. Has this ever worked? I mean, is this something that has
recently started, or that it has never worked.

Hi :-)

On further thought, you may have a corrupted or damaged History folder.

For XP follow the instructions at Mike Burgess' site as the process and
paths differ from W98:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm
To delete the History folder and index.dat (XP)

Log on as Administrator and delete the desired <username> folder and reboot.
(or log on as another user that has Administrator privileges)
Example: "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\HISTORY"

Hope this helps.

Hi Alessandro :-)

Then it may be your entire Cache is corrupted. Try the following and see if
that resolves the problem:

These URLs you're seeing are in the index.dat file in the History folder.
Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm
will delete the History folder (and the index.dat file) and a new one will
be created when
you restart.

Or the History folder can be deleted manually:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/
should be able to clear the History and the index.dat file.
Just check the appropriate boxes and run it.

Hope this helps.

Hi Alessandro :-)

Then your cache is likely corrupted, delete the cache as instructed in the
information below. Windows will create a new one for you when you reboot
the machine.

Hope this helps.
