I am using xppro sp1 with latest patches and have a problem with
'temporary directory settings'

I am not sure where the best place for this post is, but I hope someone
here can help me. I am using Nikon View v6 software for viewing
digital images and it has the capeability of compressing images for
email. In doing this it places the image in the temp directory calls
the default Netscape 7.1 mail programme and attaches the compressed file.

My problem is when I go to send the mail I get the error message “unable
to open the temporary file
c:\docume~1\alan\locals~1\temp\fotonation\nikonmail\photo.jpg . Check
your 'temporary directory settings' “

When I check out the folder there is no image present. I have tried
approaching Nikon for support, and they go as far as saying check
control panel/internet options/and make sure the default mail programme
is selected for which I am trying to send with. Did that and even tried
using Outlook god forbid, but still no joy.

Any and all suggestions are welcome in order to try to get this to work.

Try doing a search for that file. It sounds to me like the two programs
might be mis-communicating as to which temporary directory they are using,
so if you can find where the first program is saving the file you can point
the second program to it.

Hope this helps!

Umm I opened nikon view and tried sending again, this time however I
searched to see where the file was being placed. Apparently it is
nowhere to be found. I found the original right enough, but it's
compressed file with the same name which should of been saved to the
(c:\docume~1\alan\locals~1\temp\fotonation\nikonmail\) directory wasn' t
there. That said the netscape composer window was opened and the file
was indicated in the attachment window. It is only when I press send
mail in the composer window that I get the error message.

Thanks for the suggestion.
