Problem with Telephony Service

Hi There,

I am trying to run HyperTerminal on my Vista x64 workstation in order to
configure Cisco switches. Problem is that when I try to open HyperTerminal I
get the following error: "another program is using the selected telephony
device. Try again after the other program completes." I cannot find ANY other
device that would use this service.

I do not have a modem, and I do connect my cell phone to the computer via
USB but it is currently NOT connected. In "Phone and Modem Options" I do have
a default location. I suspect this to be the culprit and would like to delete
but can't. I have disabled the Telephony Service, restarted the workstation
and restarted the service and continue to get the same error.

I know this can work, as the other engineers in my department are
functioning just fine. I am the only (un)lucky one with this problem.

Yes, that is how I connect my phone, but it is NOT connected at the moment
and was NOT connected when i went through the steps below including disabling
the service, rebooting, and restarting the service.
 
Hummm.....that was it. I plugged the phone back in, went to device manager,
portable devices, and disabled windows mobile-based device. thanks so much
for the help.

But with the device disabled, I won't be able to access it via the Mobile
Device center. I just tested and it just says "connecting" ooops just
errored. How can I get both to work??? I guess it's not that big a deal as i
don't use hyperterminal enough but still an oddity.

I actually had a USB Bluetooth device that I just gave to one of the guys on
the help desk. I will see if I can get it back. How does one go about
submitting a bug to MS for a fix? I can't be the only one with this problem.

You got a guarantee at birth of that perfection ?
It's a friigen awesome OS compared to ALL other currently available and
previous OS.
Just cause your a whiney little girl, don't spread the menstruation with
everyone.
