I've tried to save my movies to a CD-R disc using the High MAT system in
Windows Moviemaker 2. Everytime it stops downloading at 58% with 30 seconds
left. What am I doing wrong?

Hi AW --

There are a variety of different "profile" settings you can select when
burning to CD -- Can you try selecting a profile from the "Other settings"
drop-down, instead of using the default "Recommended" profile?

Here's how:
1. Launch MM2.x and load your project.
2. Choose "File" / "Save Movie File"
3. Choose "Recordable CD" and NEXT
4. Provide a filename and CD title, and choose NEXT
5. Choose "Show more options" hyperlink, and select the "Other settings"
radio button. Choose a profile in the "Other settings" drop-down. Choose
NEXT, and complete the wizard normally.

Please post back if this doesn't work! I've seen a couple of posts about
this issue, but haven't gotten any feedback on whether these steps resolve
the issue.....

Thanks!

Kristen,

I am having the exact same problem on MM2 when burning to CD-R in HIGHMAT,
it stops at 58%! It always worked before the SP2 upgrade.

I selected "Other settings" under MM2 instead of "Recommended" profile and
this did not work. It stopped at 47%!

Thanks for posting back Gary - -

The 58% is a very specific point in the MM codepath for the"Burn to CD"
functionality -- It's the point when the WMV file is completely rendered,
but not yet cataloged or burned to the CD. (Don't ask me why they use "58%"
as opposed to "50%" -- I don't have that answer!)

If you are now hanging at 47%, then there is some issue with rendering your
published file -- I'd recommend looking at your content, and making sure
there isn't any issues with your source files. Since you are achieving 47%,
I'd suspect the problem file is somewhere near the end of your timeline. If
you have the time, post back and describe the kind of content you are using
(MPEG, WMV AVI, Stills... whatever) and I'll see what I can discover.

Thanks!

Thanks for your answer.
"Other options" didn't work but it worked out fine using "best quality for
filesize..." (or whatever it's called in english, my version is in swedish).
In my case the movie was 172 Mb.
