When I put my computer on standby, within 3 seconds it turns
back on. It just started doing this. The only thing I can
think of that I did was download windows updates from
microsoft website. Can anyone help me???
Thank You,
Carey

Hi Carey,

Was one of those updates a driver update? That is what usually causes this
problem. You need to do a rollback of that driver to recover the older
version, as the new one doesn't support the standby mode. To rollback, open
device manager(control panel/system/hardware), double-click the device and
go to the driver tab.

Had the same problem after an update (more than one, actually). My
situation was cured when I reinstalled my video drivers, then
rebooted. Be sure your drivers are up to date and intended for XP, if
you upgraded to XP.
