Problem with shared fax line

My W2K server has a modem used for dialing up for email.
It shares a phone line with a standard fax machine. When a
fax is sent to the machine the W2K computer tries to
receive it instead.
I have disabled the fax service and removed the fax
printer on the W2K computer but I am still unable to
receive faxes on the fax machine because the computer
tries to pick them up instead.
Do you have any ideas? Thanks.

Did you tried by stopping the Fax service . use "net stop fax" to stop the
fax service.

If you want to disable Fax service in W2K try one of the following:

1) Remove the modem from your computer and Fax will be disabled
automatically, or
2) Stop and disable Fax service. - type services.msc in a command prompt,
goto Fax, double click on it. Click 'Stop' to stop the service and then
select 'Start up type' as 'Disabled'. Press 'Apply' and 'OK' to exit.
