hi people,
I was changing my hard drive the other day,and suddenly
my screen refused to come on. I unpluged and pluged back
to the mains then it came on, but this time a blank
(white) screen. Bought and tried different data cables,
tried both IDE0 & IDE1, still all i get is a blank screen,
no POST e.t.c showing. When i switch it off from the power
button the sytem goes off (obviously including the screen).
any help?
Thanks.

Borrow a video adapter from your friendly computer
store and see if the picture comes back.

To determine if your machine actually boots up, without
seeing anything on the screen, reboot it with a Win98
boot disk from www.bootdisk.com. Wait until the boot
is complete, then issue this command:

dir a: /s

If the machine is OK (other than the display) then the
floppy disk should spin. Practise this process on a good
machine so that you can run it on the bad machine with
your eyes closed!
