problem with resolution on bootup

When I reboot windows...it reverts to 640x480 resolution
every time. I am always manually changing it to
1024x768. Any suggestions?

I just posted a message relating the same problem,

although in my case I get a "baloon" message saying the
resolution is low and do I want the system to
automatically increase it. When I click on the "baloon" it
then raises the resolution for that session, but the new
setting does not become the default and does not survive
shutting down. Have you had any helpful suggestions yet?
