Problem with reinstalling TCP/IP

I am running Windows 2000 Professional. I recently
upgraded from McAfee Virus Scan 7 to 8. Once I did that,
I lost my broadband cable connection. The service people
at the broadband company had me do several things but my
PC still could not respond to their ping. The service
person asked me to uninstall TCP/IP... from that point on
I could not reinstall. I am getting the error message
"Installation or removal of simple TCP/IP Services has
been interrupted because Install Queue is accessing the
needed information. Please close Install Queue to
continue". There are no other open programs except basics
in the task bar(Sound/video). I also tried to just open
the local network window and look at the properties of
various items.
The error message I get at that point is "The controls on
this property sheet are disabled because one or more other
network property sheets are already open. To use the
controls, close all other property sheets and reopen this
one". I don't understand this message because this is the
only property sheet I have open at the time. Can anyone
help me?

first off did you reboot?

if so the next thing i;d do is dump the sofrware (McAffee) that caused the
problem in the first place

BTW: one thing i will give McAfee credit for is that they will give you a
refund if you have a problem
