MS antispyware does not enable real-time protection. EVen
if I try to activate it, it still keeps being
disabled...any help would be appreciated

º1^ Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> cmd)
2^ Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without
the quotes).
3^ Close and re-open Windows AntiSpyware"ºª

Eventually if it doesn't work try what says Bill Sanderson:

"If you are missing your System Explorers, under advanced
tools, several users now have found that the fix first
discovered by Donald Johnson, appears to be effective for
this problem:

ºªInstallation of a Service Pack for the Visual Basic 6
runtime: This link is for SP6, but SP5 also appears to be
effectiveªº.

This same problem is driving me nuts! I've tried all the
suggestions and still cannot turn on real-time protection!

Any new clues?

Hello Martin,

try this:

Goto: Start/Control Panel/Add-Remove programs/MSAS
then click on suport info!!!
Then click on repair!

I was having the same problem. I went into the MSAS
console and went to options/settings/real-time protection
and enabled security agents and real-time on startup then
rebooted. I managed to get real-time to start. However,
I noticed that 2 of the application agent checkpoints
would not enable regardless of what I did. I finally
realized that I'd forgotten to disable anti-virus during
the installation of MSAS. I disabled my AV program, went
to control panel/add-remove programs and chose change on
MSAS. I went through the wizard as if I was upgrading the
product. I then went and reopened the console and FINALLY
victory...all agents and all checkpoints were enabled.
Hopefully this will help your situation. Just don't
forget to turn your AV back on. :) Good luck.

Thanks for that post!

That process--add or remove programs, Microsoft Antispyware, change,
update--is just what should have been suggested here, for those
symptoms--glad you were able to find it.
