My system policy editor says that it can't load the
file "common.adm".....

I tried searching for this file on my PC but it was not
there ...

can anyone tell me how can i get one ( can re-installing
win2k can help)

or how can i create one?

Thanx

Those files are in the \winnt.inf folder and common.adm exists on my W2K domain
controller. I "think" I read that you can also install poledit. and the related .adm
files on a W2K computer by installing Adminpak from the W2K install cd and it is
located in the \I386 folder. Adminpak will however install a lot of other tools on
the computer including Active Directory Users and Computers, etc. --- Steve

Yes Adminpak is only on Server install cdrom. I did find a link that shows
common.adm is included with in W2K professional and should be in the
\winnt\inf folder [be sure to show hidden and system files when you look].

If you can not find the file, you may be able to extract it form the install
disk as described below which requires a W98/ME boot floppy.

Otherwise an inplace upgrade install should work, though you would first
need to reinstall your service pack and then all of your critical updates
after doing that. --- Steve
