Problem with Panda firewall

Hi everybody,

I searched this forum before asking my question but didn't find any help in
the previous messages. I use Panda Antivirus + Firewall Platinum 7.0. I like
it and find it convenient, except that from time to time, the firewall won't
remember the rules I try to enforce.

Exemple : the latest upgrade of the antivirus has modified the piece of
software that searches for updates everyday. So the firewall advises me that
UPGRADER.EXE has changed, and asks me if I want it to access the Internet. I
click on "Yes, ALWAYS accept". So far so good, it lets the antivirus
update... until next reboot. The next time I will turn off and on my
computer, the firewall will ask me the same question, not remembering I told
him to ALWAYS accept the connection.

I do encounter this difficulty with all my software, not only UPGRADER.EXE.
The problem comes if a software is modified or upgraded : Panda Firewall
won't remember my choice to ALWAYS let the new version access the Internet.

I read on a spanish forum that somebody had the same problem a few months
ago, but nobody had answered to him. I hope I will be more lucky ;-) !

Best regards from France, sorry for English mistakes if there are some,

MALESCOT.

I had a similar problem, caused by having more than one version of a
..dll file. Depending on what you had run previously, you would
sometimes get different versions loaded, causing the firewall to
detect a program change.

I tracked down which .dll files were causing the problem by running
process viewer, available from
http://www.teamcti.com/pview/
select view/module usage, and look for .dll files with the same name,
but different paths.

In my case, the files causing the problem were mfc42.dll, and some of
the msvb runtime dlls.

Thanks David,

I did exactly what you said, but I cannot find any .dll file with the same
name in 2 different paths. Though, some are 4 or 5 times in the list, but
exactly the same size, version and location.

What's strange is that since this morning, the firewall has eventually
decided to remember my choice to let the UPGRADER.EXE access the Internet.
But I suppose the problem will occur again next time a program version is
modified...

I wrote an e-mail to Panda Support and hope to have an accurate and useful
answer. I will keep you aware. Thanks one more time !

MALESCOT.
