Hi ray :-)

You don't mention which version of Windows you are using, but, try the
following and see if it helps:

The MSN/Hotmail and .NET Passport should be treated the same as Secure
sites. Try the following and see if it helps:

Clearing the TIF Cache -
Safely Delete the Temporary Internet Files
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

also..

Also, try adding those sites to your IE Trusted Zone.

Trouble logging into Hotmail

and...

Tools>Internet Options>Security>Advanced>Custom Level> change each of the
ActiveX Controls setting respectively down the list to the following:

Change the following in order:
Prompt
Disable
Disable
Prompt
Prompt

also......:

Log on as Administrator if running Windows XP
Go To Start>Run>type in ReGsvr32.exe softPUB.DLL "
Change the IE Settings: Tools>Internet Options>Security>Setting>set to
Medium or Low...
..
Check your HOSTS file and see if the sites are there.

Windows/host (it will not have an extension, and if there is more than one,
choose the one that says Application in a column to the right) . Right click
on it and select Open with.....when the window opens, scroll down the list
to Notepad. Once it opens in Notepad, scroll down the list to see if that
site is in the list. If so, DO NOT delete it, just go to the very front of
the line to the left and enter # in front of the line so that it looks
similar to the one below, as the entries with # in front will be ignored.

# Entries with other comments are searchable via Google.

Then click the save button and close. Then try the site again.

For more information on the HOSTS file check here

Hope this helps.

I am having the same problem only my OS is Vista Home Basic.
www.ftc.gov and http://authorityresearch.com will NOT open.
I get the white screen of death saying IE cannot display the webpage and
suggests my internet connection may not be on. I have wireless and it's "on"
all the time.
I have 'reset' IE and deleted cookies and all that... I downloaded Mozilla
Firefox and these two sites STILL won't display. I'm stumped.
What to do?
