We have a problem with bringing our billing server up in
2000, when we boot the sytem in 2000 our network services
fail. This does not occur when the computer is booted in
winnt 4.0. The computer is a dual boot system, running
SQL for the billing software, and is set up as a stand
alone server. It is not configured as a Domain
controller, and WINS and DNS services are disabled. When
we first tried to switch to 2000 with it, we were in
workgroups, and the network functions stopped after only
10 minutes. When we joined it to the Domain, the network
functioned normally for appx 12 hours. Our domain
controller is win2k running active directory, we have web
services running on a separate server, and a third server
runs our internal DNS. We have no problems with any of
these, yet when we bring the billing system up under 2000,
network services shut down completely. Nothing is showing
up in the event viewer that would give us an indication of
what is happening. We need to get this system up under
2000 in order for the upgrade of the billing software to
function, as it requires SQL 2000 to run, and it will not
run under NT. Anyone out there that can give us a hint as
to what we are missing or a clue as to what is happening
would be greatly appreciated.
