I tried installing NAV 2004 last night on my newly biult system that has given
me no problems thus far. About 30 seconds after installation I got a blue
screen and the system rebooted. After reboot the system gets into Windows and 5
seconds later reboots and the rebooting sequence repeats non-stop. The only way
to break the cycle was to hit F8 on a reboot and enter safe mode and do a
system restore to prior to installation of NAV. The I removed all NAV folders
etc. and things work again.
I sent the question to Symantec tech support and got this response:
"Howard, this is not a common issue that the Symantec Technical Support had
encountered. The issue can occur either if the system has been infected with a
virus or if the drivers available in your system have been corrupted.
In order to verify whether any virus is present in your system, I suggest that
you please perform an Online Security Check.
Please follow the steps in the URL provided below to do an Online Scan:

This is a new build with clean installation of everything and the NAV did a
preliminary 'installation viral scan' when the software was being installed and
it all passed. There is no viral infection nor corrupt drivers!
I am running 4 HD, the boot is on a non-RAID drive, but there is a RAID0 array
installed as well...would that cause a problem?
Anyone have a problem like this with NAV 2004? In the meantime I went out and
bought McAfee Antivirus 8.0 and will see if that works.
