problem with network

When I open Computers Near Me, it is empty. Nothing appears in the window. I do have one XP machine and another one with Windows 2000. This used to work normally and on my main machine I don't have a problem. I can ping the XP machine by name and it resolves an ip address. This was working fine until just like a few days.

What's the problem
 
I have the same problem I have a home network through a hub
I have my main desktop with 2000 pro a laptop w/ XP Home
and my son's desktop w/ XP Home. The two XP machines can
see each other and communicate normally. But the 2000 pro
machine seems to have just disappeared and gone blind!
The only thing I know that is different is that I
donwloaded and installed an update...then poof! There
went my network! And like a fool I thought maybe if I
change my 2000 pro to XP Home it would solve my
problem...nope...can't go from 2000 pro to XP Home. What
a ripoff!

Hi,

Most likely an antivirus update stopped it from working. Or other changes you made a few
days ago. Disable (you may have to uninstall) the antivirus and see if that works. Could be
something else you picked up from the Internet. Check for any foreign programs or
spyware/malware and those type of programs.
