Hello,
I just set up my 56K modem ready for connection to the
internet in my Network Connections box, and it listed the
Icon showing it was there. (It also showed the LAN that I
dont have connected, but thats another story)

Alright, I just finished setting a few things up and then
restarted my computer, and when I wanted to connect to the
internet I checked that folder, and the icons were gone! I
mean, I hit my web browser and the request to connect to
the intnernet came up, and I can connect and everything,
but I cant shut it off when I connect! There no indication
its there, no speed indicator of the KB/Sec, and I cant
bring up the list in the Network Connections folder! Its
just empty! I hit refresh and it tells me to make sure its
Enabled, and my Network Card (or Modem Cards) are enabled.
I dont know what to do!

I am having the exact same problem. I can establish a
dial-up networking connection via a desktoop shortcut,
but network connection icons are missing and the
Network Set-up Wizard will not run. Anybody have
suggestions?

A little more info - I believe I have the culprit narrowed down to
installation of Final Fantasy XI and PlayOnline software. Uninstalled
both, didn't help. Still haven't found the fix. Will attempt a System
Restore as the next step.
