Hi,

I would be really appreciative of any help I could get on
this subject...It's really baffeling me alot!

I have set up a crossover network connection between my
laptop and desktop PC's so I can share a net connection
(This is only a dial up 56k).

I can use the network fine for printer & file sharing but
when it comes to net connection sharing, I can see when
the host (desktop) computer is connected to the net
because i get a little icon pop up in the task bar tray
telling me that it's connected.

I spose this is good but when i try to check my email
with outlook or browse the internet it doesn't let me!

Does anyone have any ideas why this might be? I now how
to network but this is really baffeling me!!!

Thanks in advance for any help.

Kind Reagards,

Hi!

Are you trying to open your mail or websites on the pc
with the connection to the internet or on the pc that is
connected to host(sharing the internet connection)?

If the pc with the physical connection to the internet
doesn't open your web pages and mail there could be a dns
problem. Have a look at your isp settings.

If the client pc that connects via the lan to the
internet doesn't open the web pages the internet
connection sharing isn't working properly. If you are
using Win98, use the wizard to re-setup internet
connection sharing and create a client config disk to
configure your client workstation. I have found that this
option usually works best witout any problems. You can
also chech your settings of internet explorer in the lan
settings tab on the connections menu - this setting
should be set to Automaticall detect settings and all the
other settings should be disabled.

Also check the ip's of your host and client pc. Make sure
the client pc is set to dhcp and that is has a
corrosponding ip to the hosts.

Make sure that there are also not dial-up connections,
accounts created on the client pc.

Hope this helps abit.

Cheers
