I took a video using a Sony DCR-DVD201, and imported it to the computer (XP
Pro) using Sony's Pixela software. From this point, I tried to open it with
first, Premiere, then WMP, then Movie maker, all crashed. All indicated the
problem was with the file IVIVIDEO.AX. This file does not exist on my
computer, I do not have WinDVD installed. Here is the kicker, I tried to open
the mpeg on an XP Home computer, and it worked fine.

It'll depend on which codecs are installed on the machine, obviously the
right one is on the xp home machine.
Premiere needs an expensive plug in to edit mpeg2's, wmp needs a third party
mpeg codec supplied by the likes of windv. MM does not work well with
mpeg2's and is again in need of the codec from the third party software.

So where can I get the needed codecs?
