Vladimir Simunovic

Hello to everyone!

I am a System administrator in my company with Windows2000
domain an I am facing a real world problem (as I can see
other people have the sam problem too) with XP.

I can't see any computer through Microsoft Windows
Network->"My_Domain" on my laptop. I keep getting the same
message on and on -> "My_Domain" is not accessible. You
might not have the permissions to use this network
resource. Contact your system administrator (I am a bloody
one!)

I have tried with SP1 for XP, but didn't help.

NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled.

I have also enabled browser.

This is a real "pain in the ass" for me since there are
around 10 computers with the same problem (all XPs) and
unfortunately for me one them is my boss's laptop.

I would realy appreceate if some could give me a hint.

I do not expect magical solution, just help, since I am
also trying to solve this problem by myself.

Thanx!

Vladimir

Questions you might want to ask
IP DHCP or static
If dhcp does it get the correct one "just right click
connection and chose status
If Staic you might want to make sure all are useing same
set of rules SM, GW, DNS, ...ECT
Domain or Peer to Peer
If domain do you have wins running, and or netbeui ON THE
SERVER ONLY, I have had to load Netbeui on the server in
a few places it worked, Are all the Domain information
correct Right click My Computer click network view the
names listed. Also the name of the computer can not be
the same as the user. ex PC Name=john User= john change
the name of the computer and rejoin the domain.

Peer to Peer enable file and print sharing on all pcs.
make sure workgroups are same. Load netbeui on all

Last thing start > run > \\ipaddress enter does it ask
you to login, cancel than try \\ipaddress\sharename

Let me know if it helped.
