Hi,

I have 2 users who had the following problem : when sending an update a
meeting in the future (non-recurring), Outlook automatically sent a
cancellation notice at the same time it sent the update notice.

In both cases, they were sending it to a distribution list.

We use Office 2002 (XP), with SP2 installed.

Can anyone help me ? I've tried looking into groups.google.com, and found 1
post that looked similar but with no answers. support.microsoft.com wasn't
helpful either.

Thanks.

Mathieu

In one case, it was to several user, but I think it was expanded from a
distribution list.

Can anyone help me please? It would be really appreciated.

Here's what is most likely happening:

1. Meeting is sent to a DL (1 Attendee)
2. Members of the DL respond to the meeting request
3. The organizer's meeting now contains the DL and all of the attendees who
sent a response back
4. Often the organizer will remove all of the attendees, so just the DL is
present then send an update. Outlook doesn't know the members of the DL, so
it assumes the users who were deleted are no longer invited and sends a
cancellation. This also happens if the user removed the DL and left the
individual attendees on the update.

Hope that helps:

Does this help ?

Yes, a bunch. My user tells me she didn't do it, but I think she might have
done it and simply don't remember.

Thank you for your answer ! It's really appreciated.

Mathieu,

Were the users who performed the update prompted to send a cancellation
notice?
