Hello,
never installed one of these types of coolers before.

I put in the grease placed the cooler over the cpu,
locked the smaller of the clips over the supporter,
then went to the reverse side, pushed down and locked the
larger of the two. However, I am unable to complete the
third step, pushing down on the black clip to actually
tighten the thing. It just wont budge. Step 8 here:
http://www.masscool.com/masscool/socket_754939940.asp

Have I got the whole thing 180 degrees te wrong way
round? Looks like it goes on either way.

On top of that, even though I then undid the two clips
I can not get the device off of the cpu. It seems to have formed
a seal with the grease - I'm afraid to pull it too hard in case the
cpu is damaged.

I thought this design was supposed to make things easier -
Help!
Thanks,
Dave

I got the device off of the CPU.
However, turning around doesn't solve the problem.
The black clip will not go down with moderate force.
If I just leave it up, the unit is touching the cpu,
but it's quite loose - I can slide it around in there
easily without any force.

What's the deal with this heat sink?

This was fixed by removing the motherboard-
supplied (already atttached) fan supporter
and installing the one supplied with the fan.

Although they look identical height wise,
there must be a small difference.
