Can anyone offer any insight on why margin settings are being ignored when I create e-mail messages within Outlook 2000 ver. 9.0? Thie righthand margin settings are disregarded in creating messages. When received by their recipients, sentences have irregular line breaks that are extremely distracting. The only modification I have made is changing the font to "Arial" and reducing the size to 10 pt. Any suggestions on resolving the issu

You didn't mention your message format.

At the risk of establishing how little I understand about Outlook, what is the "message format" and how could it impact on the margin problem I describe? I welcome your insight because almos

received by their recipients. It is irritating and distracts from the message. On my screen, the right margin is ignored and the sentence extends well beyond it.

"message format" = whether the message uses plain text, HTML or rich text.

Thank you. I have reset the Message Format to HTML. Should this automatically resolve the problem? I.e., will recipientients no longer receive messages with odd and irregular sentence breaks? The default font with HTML Format is "Arial" 11.5

The HTML format naturally wraps lines without inserting line breaks, so it
may do the trick.

If I wanted to learn more about Outlook's "Message Format" options, where should I look? The irregular right margin problem continues even after selecting the "HTML" format for drafting new messages.

There are only 3 options -- HTML, rich-text and plain text. Plain text is
the most widely used. HTML is the best for formatted messages. Rich-text
works only with other Outlook recipients, so is used mostly for
intra-organization communications.

I don't know what you mean by the "irregular right margin problem." Any time
you have issue with message composing, the editor you're using -- Outlook's
built-in editor or the WordMail editor -- may be a factor. Switch editors
and see if that helps.
