Please note I am a newbie when it comes to Win2k and
AD, though I have extensive experience as a computer
professional (mostly unix).

I have kept the following as brief as possible:

Setup:

Win2k Server in small home office w/4 PC's, connected to
internet via cable modem and SMC Brricade Router.

Used DCPROMO to set up AD/DC. DNS configued with 4
entries (PC's running XP Pro and Win2k pro). Added forwarder
for internet. TESTED DNS and WORKS. Used KB 300202
as reference.

AD/DCt up with backward compatibility for pre 2000. I know
now backward compatibility not necessary, but this is my 1st try.

Added Win2k pro box name to AD (raptor)

Using Win2k pro machine as test to trest my setup. Modified
DNS to point to AD/DC. WORKS.

On win2k pro, right-click My Comp->Properties.

Use Network ID to start wizard.

User Administrator ID andpass, plus domain name. Get:

"An account for this computer has been found in the domain
"XXXXXXXX". Would you like to use this? Say Yes. Get:

"Your computer could not be joined to the domain because the
following error has occurred:

The credentials supplied conflict with an existing set of credentials."

Any comments or suggestions welcome,

Thanks in advance,

Tom

Color me a newbie. Did a google search which bought me to the MS
knoweledge DB with an answer (which worked).

Simply disconnected my previously defined shares and all was well.

DOH!,
