problem with internet explorer

I had purchased a Netgear Ma 311 wireless card. I
installed it (the firewall was enabled) and it showed me
100% connection, but I could not connect to the internet.
I then pinged the ip number, and it pinged fine. I then
proceeded to unistall the card and removed Mcafee from my
computer. After doing this i reinstalled the card, but it
still does the same thing. I then installed my previous
Linksys card, which had worked before, but it doesnt work
now. So then I tried yet another card, a Netgear Ma111
usb adapter, and got the same results; 100% connection but
no internet access. I had another idea, on using rollback
(if thats a correct term) and go back to a week ago and
try it then, but Im not at my pc, so i'll try that when i
get home. Can anyone help me resolve this issue?

ITS WINDOWS XP home edition
i'll burn this onto a cd, and then just install it on the
affected pc, right?
